We hope you enjoying some well-deserved summer rest and relaxation. The CMT Brotherhood is also in summer mode, while reflecting with great satisfaction on a tremendous year of
events.
In September, we were already hard at work beginning with the community-wide Welcome
Back Barbecue. Throughout the fall, we joyfully honored members, while mourning the loss of others.
We lauded Don Grenadir as our Man of the Year; and sadly mourned the passing of Jerry Josephson
and Lou Kaitz, beloved CMT and Brotherhood members. Brotherhood co-sponsored the now annual
Wine Tasting in the Sukkah; participated in another successful CMT Mitzvah Day; and sponsored the breakfast for the One
Synagogue ~ One Book program, a panel discussion on the Ethics of War. It was a very busy, but highly productive fall.
A snowy December evening brought many CMT members together for a dinner and memorable night at “The Donkey Show”
in Cambridge. The pace continued throughout the winter into spring with participation in Brotherhood-Sisterhood Shabbat,
sponsorship of the annual “Honor the Minyanaires Breakfast” and a very powerful Yom Hashoah program, which set new
standards in programming and cooperative planning with other Boston Jewish community organizations. And in this same time
period, the community mourned the passing of CMT and Brotherhood member Ray Tye.
Spring arrived signaling another Brotherhood softball season – in which we burnt up the base paths each Sunday in
pursuit of the Kiddush Cup. Brotherhood proudly took an active role in the Israel Innovation Weekend, chaired by Sid and
Nancy Lejfer, in memory of Alan Tichnor and the great vision he shared with the Jewish community worldwide.
Planning for the year ahead is next on our agenda --- we look forward to everyone's enthusiastic participation.
The CMT Brotherhood is a cooperative effort and we thank all for their help and contributions this past year. And we commend
member and CMT President Chuck Diamond for bringing strong leadership and vision to both the Brotherhood and the
Congregation.
We may be on summer hiatus, but we are always available for your questions or suggestions, just send us an email (see above).
Have a great summer! But, remember to check back with us in September, for our fall line-up of events.
