The Brotherhood of Congregation Mishkan Tefila is affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. Our mission is to make a meaningful contribution to the religious and general life of the congregation.
We conduct innovative programs that strengthen member participation in the Congregation, promote a more thorough knowledge and appreciation of Jewish life, enhance spirituality, develop knowledgeable leaders for the Congregation and community at large, and foster fellowship. The Brotherhood also provides service and social functions for its own members and the general CMT membership, in order to create a spirit of camaraderie that is vital to the continuing well being of CMT and its members. In addition, the Brotherhood sponsors a very competitive softball team in a local synagogue league (Men’s Shul Softball League).
We invite you to find out why our Brotherhood is important and how you can play a role.

Brotherhood Beat
On May 4th the Brotherhood will sponsor one of our signature events, the Annual Yom Hashoah Commemorative Breakfast. This year we will be remembering the great Jewish cities of Eastern Europe with the showing of short fi lms from the National Center for Jewish Film on cities like Warsaw, Vilna, and Lodz. Dr. Justin Cammy, co-director of Jewish Studies at Smith College will be our speaker. When you receive your invitation, kindly RSVP as soon as possible; this is one of our best attended events. You won’t want to miss it!
Springtime also marks the return of our CMT softball team. Contact Russ if you’re interested in participating, and look to our weekly e-mail for reports on how we’re doing. If you can attend a game, please come cheer on the Mishkan Tefila Mavens (not our official name) to victory.
In June, many of us will be heading to Camp Ramah in Palmer for the annual Laymen’s Institute, scheduled to be held June 12th to 15th with keynote speaker, Rabbi Neil Gillman. We are encouraging and looking for an excellent turnout from CMT because Rabbi Gillman will be joined by our own Rabbi Geoffrey Haber (who needs no introduction). Rabbi Geoff will speak on Thursday evening and Friday morning. It’s a weekend of food, fun, davening, learning, and relaxation. If you have been putting off attending until “some day,” that day has arrived. Come be a part of this annual gathering, and support your Rabbi! You will be home in time for Father’s Day lunch, we promise.
Finally, by the time of the next bulletin, Larry will be joined by a new co-president, as Russ steps down. Who that will be is unknown at this writing, so make sure you get our weekly e-mails. In the meantime, if you have any questions you can contact Russ at RNS@riw.com or Larry at larry@stors.net.
Since this edition of the bulletin covers four months, we wish you a festive Shavuot, a happy Fourth of July, a refl ective Tisha B’Av, and a great spring and summer!
