The Sisterhood of Congregation Mishkan Tefila is part of the New England Branch of the Women's League for Conservative Judaism. CMT Sisterhood makes a difference in our congregation and community. Our goal is to promote a strong sense of community among the women of the synagogue. Our programs provide opportunities for personal Jewish development and the means to enhance women’s roles in the home, the synagogue and the community. We support and sponsor Jewish Education and varied programs for CMT and the community at large. Sisterhood represents our Jewish values and desire to make our community a better place in which to live. While it focuses on the needs and interests of women, it is a partner with the Brotherhood to share in social events and in other contributions that meet the religious and financial needs of our Congregation.
Whether you are single, a stay-at-home or working mom or grandma, a student, career woman, widow or retiree, Sisterhood is for you. Through our mitzvot and wide range of programs, we work hard and know how to have fun. Come early and often and make some of the best friends you’ll ever have.

Sisterhood Happenings
Happy Spring! Sisterhood continues to sponsor many new exciting programs as CMT celebrates its 150th anniversary. A community effort by the Sisterhoods of CMT and Temple Emanuel resulted in an exciting evening of learning, celebrating and dining with an early all women’s Passover program “Don’t Pass over the Women.” We extend special thanks to Marci Sage for her efforts in putting together this meaningful event.
Sisterhood is proud to sponsor a 150th Shabbat Kiddush on Saturday, May 3rd. There will be activities for all members of the family. We hope to see you there.
Plan to attend the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism First North Atlantic Region Spring Conference on May 4th at Congregation Beth Israel in Worcester. The program features Estelle Dobrow, fundraising and communications consultant and John Boiano, motivational speaker. The $50 fee for the conference includes all materials, Continental Breakfast, Luncheon, Chai Tea and Installation. Please contact Jill Matusow at 617-558-8112 for registration information.
Sisterhood is pleased to honor Helen Semo as our 2008 Light of Torah. Helen is a long-time member of the CMT Sisterhood and has spent countless hours in the Library and serving as our Historian. She gives of herself every Shabbat driving fellow members to services. We are so pleased Helen has accepted this much-deserved honor. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, May 29th at Temple Beth Am in Randolph. Sisterhood members will receive more details as they become available from the Region. Mazal tov Helen!
Lastly, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Co-Presidents during the last two years. We are profoundly grateful to all who served with us and to the congregation for its continued support of Sisterhood. We wish Sisterhood much continued success as we move toward the future with new ideas, programming and talent. Enjoy the summer months!
