RABBI DANIEL BERMAN comes to Mishkan Tefila after having recently received his rabbinic ordination from Hebrew College in Newton. Prior to entering rabbinical school, Rabbi Berman practiced as a trial attorney in Boston for several years, and held a position as Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University School of Law. He is an experienced educator, having taught children, families and adults in both formal and informal settings in the U.S. and in Israel, and has years of experience as a congregational leader, advocate for social justice, and community builder. Rabbi Berman received chaplaincy training at Massachusetts General Hospital, and recently completed a fellowship in inter-faith education and spiritual leadership.
Rabbi Berman received his B.A. in Jewish History and U.S. History at Columbia College in 1996, and studied at the Hebrew University and the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. He graduated Northeastern University School of Law in 2000, and was ordained at the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College in 2010.
He met his wife Sarah Meyers on a kibbutz in the Negev Desert in Israel. Sarah recently completed her tenth year as a high school math teacher and is now a student in the MBA program at MIT Sloan. They have two children, Elie (8) and Mica (5).
