Our Book Club meets in the library on the third Thursday of every month at 1:00pm. Bring a dairy, parve or kosher lunch at 12:30 if you like, to enjoy with our beverages and great conversation.
On May 17 we’ll discuss the eagerly awaited When General Grant Expelled the Jews (did you know about that?) by Jonathan Sarna of Brandeis.
Our June 21 selection is the bestselling legal thriller Defending Jacob, set in Newton and written by Newton author William Landay.
On July 19 we’ll talk about The Arrogant Years by Lucette Lagnado, the author of The Man in the White Sharkskin Suit; it follows her immigrant Egyptian family to Brooklyn. On August 16 we’ll turn to Syd Arthur, a whimsical tale by local author Ellen Frankel. We’ll discuss Martin Fletcher’s critically acclaimed The List, a novel of refugees in England and Palestine after World War II, on September 20.
Hope you can join us on some or all of these dates. We meet 12 months a year.
Please bring your ideas for books we can read at upcoming meetings; we decide together on future selections.
