Our adult collection encompasses fiction, biography, art books, Israeli history and culture, holiday information and more. In our Judaica collection, we have books on Maimonides, Abraham Joshua Heschel, and Mordecai Kaplan. Our biography section includes books on the lives of Herzl, Dayan, Dreyfus, Szold, Gershwin, Shcharansky, Goldwyn and Koufax. We collect the book winners of such prizes as the national Jewish Book Awards and the Sydney Taylor Book Awards for children’s books.
We also have a wide variety of titles that will capture the interest of young adults. Look on the back wall for our Manny Kurland Memorial Collection for young adults. The books in this collection were donated by the Kurland family in honor of each of our B’nai Mitzvah since 2010.
Our younger readers will enjoy our ever-expanding Rebecca: An American Girl series, depicting an immigrant family in 1914, which is the companion to the popular doll. Younger students will also like our books on Israel: Snow in Jerusalem, First Rain, and The Waiting Wall. Look for them in the children’s section.
Share our delight in our subscription to the Jewish Review of Books. Like the New York Review of Books, it has in-depth reviews and feature articles about different facets of Jewish literature.
We also maintain a Shabbat Cart, which is outside the sanctuary, for children to use when they come to services.
