Here at CMT, we began 2020 with a Hesed Challenge: Do an act of kindness for someone every day during the month of January. We set the tone for the year, and the decade, by showing appreciation and care for others with intentionality.
Thank you for letting the office know, and for posting on Facebook, your acts of kindness. Our community has given and received wonderful acts of hesed this past month.
Here are some of the results of our Hesed Challenge:
We have done over 100 acts of Hesed!
One awesome member did almost a month of hesed and brought Toni (our new Administrative Director) notes detailing 23 days of them.
Said, "thank you" to the MBTA streetcar driver
Held the door for a mom who was very thankful and she said "it’s my turn to be kind to another person"
Siblings supported each other
Members of other shuls heard about our challenge and adopted it for themselves
Here are some acts of hesed seen done at CMT:
being welcomed by the staff whenever I come to CMT
people working together on committees
everyone being patient with me
picked up pizza at 2 different places meeting dinner - one to save money and one to support a kosher pizza place
I invite us to keep our hesed actions going. As one congregant said, ‘Acts of loving kindness make me feel good.’ Hesed opens our hearts, connects us to others, and brings goodness to our society.
I wish us a Shabbat full of hesed, compassion and love for and from others,
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Marcia Plumb
