A Messge From Our President
As Jews, we are fortunate to have our own celebration of a New Year which is at once joyous and solemn, reflective and forward looking, one that allows us to reconnect with our heritage, with the community, and with ourselves. This year will be different in many ways. We will miss the New Year hugs and handshakes. We will miss the experience of sitting and standing together in prayer. We will miss welcoming newcomers to our synagogue family.
It is my hope that we can see this year as a unique opportunity for something different and embrace this difference. Our Mussar lens redirects our perspective to focus on gratitude (hakarat ha’tov), enthusiasm (zerizut) and loving kindness (chesed). I am grateful to Rabbi Plumb, our staff, and lay leadership who are working enthusiastically to bring us innovative online services and creative New Year experiences that will be spiritual, hopeful, and engaging.
I look forward to our community sharing this opportunity together.
If you have not already done so, please let us know if you would like to include your loved ones in our Yizkor Memorial Book, byclicking here - the deadline is Monday, August 31.
As a community, we mourn the loss of Mervyn Hurwitz (Moshe Behr Ben Chaim v’ Esther), father of Yael Hurwitz-Lange and Bertram Hamilton, father of Rabbi Bill Hamilton.
Wishing you good health, Caryl Goodman President
