Tomorrow, Wednesday, is Fast of the Firstborn (Hebrew: תענית בכורות, Ta'anit B'khorot. It is a fast reserved for only first born Jews. It begins in the morning, and ends after the Shacharit service. It commemorates the miracle that the first born Jews escaped the plague of the Death of the First Born. This year, however, we all could see the short fast as an expression of gratitude for our health in the time of this modern day plague.
