Introducing the new Silverlining Buddy Program project manager Wendy Handler
It seems odd to introduce myself having been a longtime member of CMT for the past 25 years, but the CMT of today is different than the CMT of yesteryear and there are many new members.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Wendy Handler. I have been involved at Mishkan Tefila over the years in both professional and volunteer capacities. I’m best known for my involvement in youth activities and family programming. If there’s one thing I can say with certainty, it’s that I am passionate about Jewish education, learning, community and connection.
I was recently hired as the project manager to coordinate the activities of the Silverlining Buddy Program. If you receive information from me about the program, I am not necessarily recruiting you. I am hoping that you’ll join me in promoting this program. I’d be grateful if you would share this incredible opportunity with some of the young people in your lives…your college age children, your young professionals, your grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. The Silverlining Buddy program pairs young adults (high school juniors and seniors, college age students and young professionals) with older adults, for weekly telephone conversations. This win-win scenario allows our young adults to hone their communication skills, while easing the social isolation that many older adults may be feeling during this challenging time. This is an incredible opportunity to create meaningful connections! Share this information. Have your family and friends go to mishkantefila.org and sign up to be a Silverlinings Buddy today!
The position of project manager for the Silver Lining Buddy Project has been generously funded by the CJP Covid Emergency Fund to help relieve isolation for our members and Boston wide seniors.
