Climate Crisis - We Need Your Hep Now
Dear CMT Friends and all those concerned with the Climate Crisis,
I am writing to you with an urgent request from Dayenu, a Jewish Action for Climate Change. Due to the tragic loss of the Build Back Better bill in the Senate, that would have moved the US forward in managing the climate catastrophe, it is clear that, from here on out, most of the climate campaigns in the US will be at the state and municipal level. Which is why I am pleased that MA is leading the way in state efforts. Thanks to a huge amount of work from other MA climate groups, a large and equity-oriented climate bill recently passed the MA House & Senate, and is now on Gov. Baker's desk.
BAKER HAS UNTIL JULY 31 TO SIGN THE BILL INTO LAW AND HE NEEDS TO HEAR FROM US NOW.
Please take 2 minutes and do this.
Please send it to your families and circles of friends.
Please let me know once you've done the above. Let's hit at least 30 CMT contacts to Gov. Baker this week, with hopefully lots more.
See below for simple instructions on how to make this call or send this email.
‘We have a chance at some truly progressive and impactful climate action here in Mass, but Baker needs to feel the heat from us NOW.’ (Dayenu)
Hello Governor Baker, This is __[YOUR NAME]__ and I live in __[YOUR TOWN]__. I am a member (friend or family of a member) of Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Brookline, and I am deeply worried about our climate emergency. I am calling to ask Governor Baker to sign the climate bill into law that recently passed the Massachusetts House and Senate. I ask that he pass the bill as-is. This means no veto, no changes, no delay. We need all the elements in this bill to support a just transition away from fossil fuels in the Commonwealth. Thank you for your time.

I am writing to ask Governor Baker to sign "An Act Driving Clean Energy & Offshore Wind" into law. I ask that he pass the bill as-is. This means no veto, no changes, no delay. I support this entire bill, but am especially personally excited about... ADD SOMETHING PERSONAL HERE. As Massachusetts suffers yet another summer drought made worse by climate change, this bill is a tremendous opportunity to make Massachusetts a safer and greener state as we face more climate impacts in future years. It also brings economic opportunity to communities in need, all while transitioning away from fossil fuels. We need all the elements in this bill to support a just transition away from fossil fuels in the Commonwealth. Please sign it in full. Sincerely, YOUR NAME
