Looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Consider becoming a literacy tutor!
The Greater Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy (GBJCL) is looking for volunteers to help elementary school children in high need schools discover the joy of reading by building meaningful relationships with a caring adult.
GBJCL engages volunteers in school-based one-to-one reading tutoring. Volunteers come from all backgrounds and do not need professional training in education, nor are they required to be Jewish. GBJCL provides training, on-going support and resources to its volunteer teams. Commitment is approximately one - two hours per week (typically one-to-one tutoring with two students for 30-45 minutes each).
Coming out of the COVID pandemic, the need for reading tutors to help elementary school students catch up and strengthen their literacy skills is greater than ever. If you or someone you know might be interested, please be in touch! Alison Wintman, 617-680-0407 or ahwintman@gmail.com
