THE ODESA BOYS: Julian Milkis & Maxim Lubarsky in Concert at KI
Thursday, February 29, 7:30PM
The only living pupil of Benny Goodman, Sir Julian Milkis is an internationally renowned performer of both classical music and jazz. Maxim Lubarsky, a professor at Berklee College of Music, is likewise equally comfortable in both spheres. The program will feature a range of composers from the 18th to the 21st centuries, much of it falling in the intersection between jazz and classical.
The program includes pieces by Astor Piazzola, Sergey Rachmaninov, Ennio Morricone, George Frideric Handel as well as by notable post-Soviet composers Arvo Pärt (Estonia), Giya Kancheli (Georgia), Yuri Povolotsky (Ukraine), Alexander Rodin (Ukraine/Belarus). Detailed performer bios below.
