CMT welcomes our new Administrative Director, Toni Spitzer
I have just completed my first 10 days as the Administrative Director at Congregation Mishkan Tefila…a few things I’ve noted:
I have learned several new ways to get to Brookline from Holliston, where I live with my husband, Laurence and (when home from college) our children, Rose and Evan
I have resisted testing out all of the sufganiyot, jelly doughnut, offerings on Harvard Street
I have become used to saying “I work at Congregation Mishkan Tefila”, after 10 years as the Member Services Manager at Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland
But most of all…I have seen the Mussar middot, the values that CMT has adopted, every day as I come to my new home.
Savlanut, patience – learning the “ins and outs”, putting faces to names, takes some time and I am excited to get to know you!
HaKarat HaTov, seeing the good – I have seen so much “good” in my short time here – from my wonderful teammates, the hard work of the lay leadership, and the dedication of so many volunteers – there is a lot going on in the world right now that can bog us down, the optimism at CMT is infectious.
Simcha, joy – I am honored and blessed that you have chosen and trusted me to join you. I look forward to sharing many simcha’ot together.
Kavod, respect – know that I will always treat you, the life and heart of Mishkan Tefila, with respect. My door is always open, to listen – not just hear you. You are valued and important, and our community would not be the same without you.
B’tzelem Elohim, created in God’s image – I have been welcomed with such warm compassion, as one welcomes one of their own – I will never forget the feeling as I left here on my first day, knowing I belonged here.
And finally – my favorite…
Zerizut, enthusiasm – know that I share your enthusiasm and determination as we continue to build and sustain OUR Mishkan together.
I welcome you to stop by my office to introduce yourself, or call me (617-332-7770 x210) to set up a time for us to get together. I can also be reached at toni@mishkantefila.org . You will find me in the office next to our beautiful sacred space on the third floor.
L’shalom v’shutafut, in peace and partnership, Toni
